How do I export a template from the RTU to my computer?

Greetings,

I have been having some troubles with the new secure firmware in getting the templates from the Communication Port Configuration. I can use the export function, but I cannot seem to get just the template from that item saved separately for upload to another RTU. I am using the K2_P2 right now. I can download the tar.gz file ok, do I need to split that file apart with a separate program to get the template out of it? Thanks for any and all help!

Scott,

I don’t work for Schneider. I do know you can open a .tar file with any unzip program such as winzip , 7zip, winrar. Within the .tar config file you’ll find a folder named tmpl but from my experience it’s always empty.

Hi Scott,

I have attached a document that details how to move templates from one secure RTU configuration into another secure RTU configuration.
Take a look at the document and see if the explanation is helpful to complete the procedure.

  Thanks! Worked great, I was working on this path with the guidance from the first response, used 7 Zip. The new configuration recognized the template in the Import drop down menu, but would not load the data. With your document, I was able to achieve full success, noticed your note about not having spaces in the file name (I originally did), so I changed my file name and it worked. Thanks again!
