What's going on if a version has been reconciling for hours?

What's going on if a version has been reconciling for hours and ArcMap has to be crashed to get out of the seemingly endless loop?

This is a relatively small electric utility geometric network in ArcFM 10.2.1a with about 35,000 customer points.

ArcMap goes through cycles of displaying the map, blank white screen with no menu, tools or panels, a blank map with blanked-out menus and panels, and around and around it goes.

          A few suggestions:

          1) Run the "Verify Connectivity" command.  You should see an "All network connectivity is correct" message if there are no errors.

          2) If step 1 reported errors, then run the "Repair Connectivity" command from the "Geometric network editing toolbar"

          3) Re-run the "Verify Connectivity" command.  You should see an "All network connectivity is correct" message if there are no errors.

          4) Repeat steps 1 and 3 on the parent version.

          5) Check for network junctions coincident with other network junctions in the child version

          6) Check for network junctions coincident with other network junctions in the parent version

          7) Check for coincident network junctions that might result if the reconcile were successful.

          Good luck
