Solution - ArcFM - License Manager setup reports "failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"

Version 4

Running the ArcFM Solution License Manager Setup may result in the following error:

Service 'ArcFM Solution License Manager' (MinerLM9) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

The following Microsoft error may also be reported with Windows 2008 Server:

    Event ID 7030

    Source: Service Control Manager

Message: The %1 service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly.

In Windows Server 2008 support for interactive services has been removed to mitigate this security risk.

    1. Change the interact with desktop setting for the service to allow service to interact with desktop.  Note: If you leave the original error message above (don't cancel) you will see the service ArcFM Solution Manager in services. If you cancel Setup the ArcFM service will no longer be there and cannot be configured.

Here is the Microsoft documentation link on how to change the service:

    2. It is also possible that the ArcFM Solution License Manager service is starting too slowly and is running into the Windows service timeout threshold.  To increase this Windows service timeout period, please see the following Microsoft article:

    3. This has also been resolved moving the License Manager installer from a shared drive to the local computer and running it as administrator from there.
