FAQ - Responder - Running SAIDI Reports to Exclude Recent Major Outages

Version 3

    Question

Is there any way to include a recent major storm in reliability reports and TMED calculations?

    Answer

You need to run the compute tool to recalculate the last five years. However, based on the IEEE standard, the compute tool will not calculate a recent storm and goes back five complete calendar years, starting with January 1st of the current year.

Running the tool again next year will include the recent storm in the next five-year entry of the TMED table.

However, all SAIDI reports are compared against the last TMED number calculated. Chances are that the five-year average is lower than SAIDI from the last major storm, so any reports that take TMED into account will likely exclude these days, as it should.
