Solution - Responder - Nested Query Limitation with Joins

Version 1

The error "An Invalid SQL statement was used" is thrown when following the steps in this configuration document: Create Definition Queries.

This error occurs if a nested query is used for the definition query when a join is in place on the layer. This is due, but not limited, to the FM2.0 Feeder Info Field Join.

This error is due to an Esri Bug. (BUG - 000083441) [Adding a definition query on a feature class joined to a table results in an error if the table and feature class are added to ArcMap from different user database connection files.]

    • Use Spatial Views or Join Layers to achieve the same result.
    • Another option, although less desirable, would be to remove the join from the layer.
