Solution - Responder - "Failed to put ServerIdMapper Extension"

Version 10

    Behavior:

When launching Archive services and/or Prediction services, the following error appears in the Event Viewer and in the Responder service diagnostic report:
2015-04-16 10:03:18,215 ERROR - "Failed to put ServerIdMapper Extension" HRESULT: -2147467259 File: "MMAppInitialize.cpp" Line: 615

    Cause:

This particular error occurs when ArcGIS Server has been upgraded to 10.3, while ArcGIS Desktop remains at 10.2.1 on the same machine. Responder Server is supported on ArcGIS 10.2.1 only.

    Solution:

    1. Uninstall ArcGIS Server 10.3
      • When installing ArcGIS Server 10.3 it creates a sub key in the registry called "a.3", however this is not removed during the uninstall.
    2. Open regedit.exe and create a backup of the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib folder.
      • Search for "Version=10.3.0.0".
        • The key should look similar to this:
          • [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{0021B5F6-AFD9-4CC0-B49F-B54B72C33559}\a.3]
          • "PrimaryInteropAssemblyName"="ESRI.ArcGIS.DataInterop, Version=10.3.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=8fc3cc631e44ad86"
    3. Remove the "a.3" key, and continue the search.
    4. There should be a total of 29 [.\a.3] items.
