Schneider Electric's EMS suite operates over a subset of the network model pertaining to the transmission network, normally consisting of heavily meshed and well-monitored HV lines, substations and generation plants, which supplies the distribution network. EMS power applications are used for monitoring and optimization of the transmission network. The main EMS power applications include: Load Flow, State Estimation, Contingency Analysis, Fault Calculation, Switching Validation, Optimal Power Flow, and Voltage Stability. PCS is used for generator applications.
EMS and DMS applications are integrated, using the same network model and providing a consistent output and look and feel to users. Operating authority and control over the EMS and DMS network subsets can be unified or split between different user groups, based on configuration.
