The Esri Atlantic Special Interest Group meeting was held in St. Andrews New Brunswick sponsored by St. John energy. The meeting was kicked off by Jackson Energy Authority as the keynote speaker. As a user of ArcFM, Responder and Viewer/Inspector for Electric, Gas, Water, Waste Water, and Fiber they Jon Taylor was able to provide the attendees with their experience of the Esri/ArcFM solution and the benefits they have received from it. Brunswick Power and Maritime Energy other ArcFM users discussed how they used GIS to help provide information to their management and customers during outages.
A new customer to ArcFM, Newfoundland Power discussed how they selected the ArcFM solution that just went live the previous week. They have a lot of work to do but are already making plans and for the next phases of their implementation which will include mobile and OMS. Nova Scotia Power who is implementing our ADMS solution discussed their Emergency Service Restoration Plan and what goes into this and how it is managed. St. John Energy was the last of the customer presentations and discussed where they are with their data cleanup efforts and how they feel this will help them on moving forward with their Mobile Designer project and OMS in the future.
Schneider Electric conducted a presentation providing a product overview of Responder, OHDA and Wavepoint. A deeper dive into Orbit was also presented and discussion about the Cloud and Saas was had. All felt that this was something they have not taken advantage of but feel that it is something they all will have to look at quickly to help them manage their IT costs and quickly get solutions out the door.
