Solution - Fiber Manager - Broken Layers in Map Causes Circuit Schematic Generate Error

    The following error message is received when attempting to generate a Circuit Schematic:

    Error : Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a

    COM component.

    The error occured in:  at

    ESRI.ArcGIS.Geodatabase.IDataset.get_Workspace()

    at

    Miner.Desktop.FiberManager.ApplicationExtensions.GetWorkspace

    (IApplication app)

    at

    Miner.Desktop.FiberManager.CircuitSchematic.GenerateXmlData(S

    tring DiagramName, String DiagramClassName, Object&

    XmlSource, Boolean& Cancel)

     

    Cause

     

    This issue may be related to bug MM51507: Fiber Manager -- Error occurs for Circuit Schematics if there are broken layers at the top of the map.

    This bug is scheduled to be fixed for the 10.1.1 release.

     

    Workaround

     

    The following workarounds will prevent the error from occurring.

    • Remove the broken layers from the map.
    • Move the broken layers so that they are not at the top of the map.
    • Fix the links for the broken layers.  Visit the ArcGIS Resource Center for information on how to repair broken links.
