Solution - ArcFM - Customer Experience Feedback Errors

    Behavior

     

    Errors in the Miner logs contain the string Miner.ApplicationMetrics and might look like the following:


    2018-04-04 17:21:34,018 [8] ERROR Miner.ApplicationMetrics.LogglyMetricsLogger [(null)] - Error: The remote server returned an error:(401) Unauthorized.System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at Miner.ApplicationMetrics.LogglyMetricsLogger.AssignSubmitURLs()

    2017-11-07 10:40:35,039 [9] ERROR Miner.ApplicationMetrics.LogglyMetricsLogger [(null)] - Error: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.  System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.

     

     

    Cause

     

    Messages regarding Miner.ApplicationMetrics involve the ArcFM Customer Experience Feedback option. This feature provides generic use metrics to Schneider Electric. Errors for this feature typically occur when traffic is stopped by a network or software firewall, proxy, anti-virus, etc.

     

     

    Workaround

     

    Errors regarding this feature indicate a failure to send anonymous data to Schneider Electric, but do not usually imply that there is a functional problem with ArcFM.

     

    To resolve this issue:

    1. Allow traffic to flow from ArcFM to external servers.
    2. Disable the ArcFM Customer Experience Feedback option. Open the ArcFM Desktop Administrator > Software Product tab and uncheck the box for Customer Experience Feedback.

    3. Do not include this feature when installing ArcFM. Upon install, the user is presented with the following window in which this feature can be unchecked:
