I’m happy to announce the release of new versions of the ArcFM Sync and Redlining Services that provide improved support of authenticated internet proxies. Previously these services could not communicate effectively with our hosted services if your organization uses an internet proxy requiring password credentials.

To learn how proxy support by the ArcFM Sync and Redlining Services is configured, visit these pages in the ArcFM Mobile Configuration Guide:

ArcFM Sync Service

ArcFM Redlining Service

Also visit the ArcFM Mobile Services and Tools Release Notes and the ArcFM Mobile Downloads pages.

Note that our releases are cumulative so this release includes the previously released updates for OIDC to the ArcFM Sync and Redlining Services. For more details on the OIDC release, visit ArcFM Mobile full OIDC release.

Today we have completed the second phase of product updates for OpenID Connect! This upgrade process will put our solutions in line with industry standards for security protocols. Please see the following link for background on the entire OIDC upgrade process:

Required ArcFM Mobile upgrade for OIDC

Full OIDC Release

Customers can now upgrade all apps, services, and desktop applications. This release is backward compatible so existing authentication functionality will continue to function.

ArcFM Mobile for Windows and the ArcFM Solution Center will update automatically. Any customers using the Rollout feature in ArcFM Solution Center must “unpin” from earlier releases to allow update to ArcFM Mobile for Windows. iPad users should make sure all of their tasks are synced to the server before accepting the update of ArcFM Mobile for iPad.

All other services and applications that you have installed currently must be upgraded according the instructions provided here:

ArcFM Mobile Downloads

Please see the release notes for each service and application for additional important information about this release:

ArcFM Mobile

A couple more notes:

  1. If you have not yet updated your Sync Service to the ArcFM Sync Service OIDC release (v1.3.1), do not update other applications and services. Prevent auto update of ArcFM Mobile for Windows by pinning to the 3.4.x release with the Rollout feature in ArcFM Solution Center. Inform your iPad users to not accept updates to ArcFM Mobile for iPad and turn off automatic updates. Continue these practices until your Sync Service update is complete.
  2. Non-OIDC support ends on June 1. At some point after this date any services or applications that have not been upgraded will fail to authenticate!
  3. Support version changes of note in this release: iPads must have iOS 11 or greater. ArcFM Mobile Tools for Excel are supported for Excel 2013 or greater.
  4. Legacy Api Keys shown in the ArcFM Solution Center will no longer be needed after you complete the update to the full OIDC release. When you have completed the update to the full OIDC release, only three API keys are used by core ArcFM Mobile and should appear under the API Keys tab: Hosted Workflows key (if you have configured workflows for iPad users), and Sync and Redlining Service keys (if you have implemented these services).

Our GIS Support team is ready to assist you and answer questions!

I’m happy to announce the completion of the first phase of product updates for OIDC! This upgrade process will put our solutions in line with industry standards for security protocols.

ArcFM Sync Service OIDC Release

Customers can now begin downloading and installing the upgraded Sync Service. This release is backward compatible so the mobile apps will continue to function. There is no requirement to recreate or re-download replicas. Upgrade instructions are provided here:ArcFM Sync Service

As a reminder, customers must complete the Sync Service upgrade before April 1 to avoid downtime for users!

A couple more notes:

  1. You must be on the latest version of ArcFM Solution Center to manage offline data with the Sync Service upgrade. Normally, the Solution Center upgrades itself automatically when you start and restart the application. After restarting, check the About tab in the Solution Center to make sure you have version 1.2.0 or greater. If you do not, install the latest version from here: ArcFM Solution Center
  2. The following capabilities are no longer available in the ArcFM Mobile Portal web app: user management, API key management, and redline type management. Instead, use the ArcFM Solution Center for these items. Also, the “Inspector Sync” tool is no longer available for download as it is obsolete with latest authentication and ArcFM Solution Center capabilities.
  3. You will notice a “Legacy Api Keys” tab in the ArcFM Solution Center. Please ignore this tab for now. There will be additional instructions later about API Key conversion.

Soon the Schneider Electric product development team is releasing an important upgrade to ArcFM Mobile to leverage OpenID Connect, known also as OIDC, for authentication. This includes changes to our hosted services as well as to services and applications installed in your enterprise. This upgrade will put our solutions in line with industry standards for security protocols. As a bonus, this upgrade will also enable a single user to authenticate to multiple tenants for the organization (requested by some ArcFM Mobile customers).

Here is the targeted timeline:

February 15: ArcFM Sync Service OIDC Release

After this release customers can begin downloading and installing the upgraded Sync Service. This release is backward compatible so the mobile apps will continue to function. There is no requirement to recreate or re-download replicas. Upgrade instructions are provided here:

https://infrastructurecommunity.schneider-electric.com/docs/DOC-7753

Customers must complete the Sync Service upgrade before April 1 to avoid downtime for users!

April 1: Full OIDC Release

After this release customers can upgrade remaining services and all desktop applications. This release is backward compatible so existing authentication functionality will continue to function.

Mobile apps and the ArcFM Solution Center will update automatically. Any customers that have used the controlled rollout feature must “unpin” from earlier releases to allow mobile app upgrade.

All other services and applications listed here that you have installed currently must be upgraded according the instructions provided here:

https://infrastructurecommunity.schneider-electric.com/groups/arcfm-mobile-downloads

June 1: Non-OIDC Support Ends

After this date any services or applications that have not been upgraded could fail to authenticate!

Even though this might sound intimidating, I want to emphasize that this is a straightforward upgrade, and the security enhancements justify the effort required. Our support team is ready to assist you and answer questions.

With today's release of ArcFM Mobile 3.4 for Windows, utility-scale construction workflows begin to take shape!

This release includes new capabilities to enable the construction as-builting process:

  • Crews can activate work locations in the map from an external workforce management system, and ask for turn-by-turn directions, to get to a day's work more efficiently.
  • Upon completion of a job, the foreman can more effectively communicate as-built changes to assets, map corrections, and field conditions in redlines with attributes.
